“Charmed Ancestors”—Faux Tin-Type Photo and Stamped Metal Charm Necklace

Length: 1 Day (6-7 hours)

Create a wearable family history and instant family heirloom!

You’ll explore different image transfer techniques and create metal charms with the look and feel of antique tin types. You’ll also learn how to make stamped metal word charms to embellish your necklace with.

Basic metalsmithing techniques you will learn include shaping, filing and sanding metal, riveting, metal stamping, basic wire wrapping, applying patinas and more.

 For those not interested in a family theme, you’re more than welcome to create a similar necklace using images of your choice (think flowers, animals, abstract patterns, etc). The instructor will also provide images for class use.
