About A Quirk of Art All A Quirk of Art pieces are imagined, created and hand-crafted by me, Beth Taylor. Repurposing found and recycled objects in my jewelry is my passion. There’s something intriguing and magic-like about reclaiming the mundane, the cast-off and the forgotten and transforming it into a something completely different and wearable. The result is always unique and never boring. You’ll find my jewelry to be a combination of the old and new, of contrasting textures and colors. Also drawn to the power of the written word, I incorporate text into many of my pieces, whether it’s my own poetry or words selected from antique and vintage ephemera. Additionally, many pieces also feature prints of my own digitally produced and/or hand-created mixed media collages. A metalsmith and jewelry artist for more than 5 years, my background includes a mix of college-level metalsmithing and art courses, workshops and self-taught methods. I have largely been inspired by Susan Lenart Kazmer, whose work and passion for found object jewelry completely changed my perception of jewelry and its form, function and purpose. I have also had the privilege of being instructed by several other talented and well-respected jewelry artists including Tim McCreight, Thomas Mann and Chris Darway. I’m also a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the International Jewelry Designers’ Guild. I create all my pieces with a sense of meaning infused with beauty, fun and funk. Quirky yet wearable, they’re meant to be coveted, collected and cherished.
